And the Winner’s Are….

After much delay I have finally counted all of the votes from this year’s summer reading program.  Teens and children read a total of 1250 hours and voted to give a donation to Heifer International for a goat, chickens and seedlings.

Participants voted:
486 for a goat and 461 for a llama
668 for chickens and 356 for ducks
498 for honeybees and 535 for seedlings

Congratulations and a big thank you to all of our summer readers!

Summer Reading Party

We are going to wrap up our summer reading program with a party on the library lawn with games, crafts and ice cream.  The event will be held on Saturday August 22nd beginning at 4:00.  After playing games, eating ice cream and doing crafts, you are invited to stay and listen to the Salisbury Band play some of your favorite tunes.

New Prizes

New prizes have just come in including tickets to Catamount and gift certificates for Build-A-Bear.  Take a look at “Prizes” page on this blog to see what you can win this summer just by reading.

Also don’t forget that all of our summer programs start this week.  We will have Picnic Storytime, Wacky Wednesday, Crafternoon, Pre-School Playgroup, and will be showing Inkheart on our big screen TV in the Wardell Community Room.

Tweens and Teens!  Stop by the library to play Dance, Dance Revolution and Gutar Hero.

Summer Reading Kick-Off

We are going to kick-off the festivities this summer with clown, Vanilla Swirl.  Vanilla Swirl’s multiple talents have endeared him to his various audiences.  His talents include animal balloon sculpture, puppetry, a flea circus, mime, juggling, humor, special effects and magic.  He has smoothly incorporated these skills into his shows to the delight of spectators.

Vanilla Swirl will be performing at the Scoville Memorial Library on Saturday, June 6th at 10:00. After his performance he will instruct participants in creating their own balloon animals.  All ages are welcome to this wonderful event which will be held in the Wardell Community Room.  No registration is necessary.

Summer Reading 09

Summer is fast approaching and the Scoville Memorial Library is gearing up for our summer reading program.  This year’s theme is “Reading-It’s a Fine Art” in conjunction with the national collaborative program “Be Creative” and is sponcered by the Friends of the Scoville Memorial Library as well as several local businesses and companies.   Get ready to let your creative juices flow as we explore the various fine arts this summer.  Check our blog often for pictures of programs and updates on events.
